WORKSHOP: HUMAN JOURNALISM

We extend the deadline for the scholarships announcement to June 17th

The 14th International Festival of Photo & Journalism “City of Gijón” announces 10 scholarships to participate in the workshop of journalism, organized in collaboration with the University of Oviedo. For the first time, five of these scholarships are intended to journalists with multimedia skills (that is, their work should combine at least two formats: text, photo, video, audio…). The rest of the 5 scholarships are for photojournalists.

The 14th International Festival of Photo & Journalism “City of Gijón” will be hold in Gijon (Spain) from July 9th to 18th, during the “Semana Negra” (Black Week), when the Culture and the Fiesta joins in a very singular event. Around one million people, including dozens of writers, journalists, filmmakers and photojournalists from all over the world, will take part in lectures, concerts, debates, exhibitions, and celebrations which take place in a closed area of two square kilometers.

Gijón is a seaside town in Asturias, located 450 kilometers north from Madrid. Its cultural life is vibrant all the year long and you can not miss its beautiful green landscapes, beaches and a delicious gastronomy, worthy of being enjoyed in the company of its welcoming people.

Requirements:

1. Age: Under 30.
2. PHOTOJOURNALISTS SCHOLARSHIP: 20 photos and a Currículum Vitae with name, surname, email, telephone number and address.
3. MULTIMEDIA SCHOLARSHIP: Two multimedia works (that, at least, use two or more formats: audio, video, text, photo…) and a Currículum Vitae with name, surname, email, telephone number and address.

Conditions of the scholarship include:
1. Accommodation and maintenance from 11 to 17th July
2. Registration fees.

The organisation of the Festival reserves the right to use the photos and multimedia works for promotional purposes of the event.
Ways to formalize the scholarship:

1. Upload the material in a web server (flickr, vimeo, blip.tv, etc) and send us the link to see it or to download it to info@fotoyperiodismogijon.com; subject “SCHOLARSHIP 14 EIF”. We recommend you to reduce the size of the archive preserving the quaility of the image.

2. Regarding the photos, you can convert them to “JPEG for web” and reduce its size.

3. Regarding the video, convert it on MPEG-4 -720×576 px – 5mbp bitrate aproximately.
